Nha Xuan Tay is gently perched atop a low hill in Xuan Tay commune, offering uninterrupted views toward the distant Gia Lao Mountain, roughly 8 kilometers away as the crow flies.
This elevated position not only provides visual access to the surrounding natural landscape but also allows the house to engage with prevailing breezes and changing light conditions throughout the day, reinforcing its strong dialogue with the site’s rural character.

With Nha Xuan Tay, we aimed to create a modest, nature-connected home —one that emphasizes atmospheric architecture through minimal materials, simple construction, and minimal interior decoration.
At Nha Xuan Tay, Dong Nai bricks and tiles create a warm, breathable envelope suited to the tropical climate. A central courtyard, both a playful space and a passive cooling core, channels breezes through the home. These elements reflect G+ Architects’ values of local material use, climate sensitivity, and human-centered design.
Nhà Xuân Tây nằm trên một gò cao thuộc ngay xã Xuân Tây, có tầm nhìn phóng ra núi Gia Lào (khoảng 8km –đường chim bay).
Ngôi nhà của một gia đình trẻ đã sinh ra và lớn lên tại đây, họ mong muốn có một ngôi nhà để sum họp bạn bè gia đình, cho con trẻ cảm nhận quê hương mỗi cuối tuần khi hệ thống giao thông kết nối khiến việc đi lại giữa Tp. HCM và Xuân Tây (Đồng Nai) được rút ngắn hơn rất nhiều so với trước đây.
Chúng tôi và chủ đầu tư thống nhất một loại vật liệu là gạch và ngói Đồng Nai cho công trình. Sự đồng nhất một loại vật liệu, một màu sắc giúp chúng tôi tự do trong cách thể hiện bố cục và phân chia không gian.
Một mảng tường dài dọc theo khu đất được hình thành và phân chia không gian ở và sinh hoạt. Phần mái gấp nếp theo phương dọc, tạo ra những khoảng mái hiên trải dài. Những nếp gấp mái ngói dốc tạo ra các cao độ khác nhau trong không gian và mở ra những khoảng sáng theo trục Đông Tây. Với hình thích tạo một trục dài theo khu đất giúp không gian ở tiếp cận trực tiếp với khu vườn quanh nhà hay hàng hiên trải dài.
Vai trò của hàng hiên tiếp tục được chúng tôi gợi lại ở nhà Xuân Tây với những khoảng không gian dưới mái giật cấp theo công năng sử dụng. Khoảng thứ nhất nối liền với sảnh hiên đón, Khoảng thứ 2 làm mờ ranh giới trong (phòng khách và ăn) và ngoài nhà. Khoảng thứ 3 là khoảng hiên riêng tư cho phòng ngủ chủ nhà, và gợi mở cho không gian vườn phía sau nhà.
Một khoảng vườn nhỏ ngay giữa nhà được chúng tôi mở ra –đây là sân chơi cho các bé (các bé có thể trèo từ cửa sổ phòng ngủ xuống sân này và người lớn dễ tầm soát được), khoảng mở này cũng chính là khoảng mở để đón hướng gió chính lùa từ sau ra trước nhà.
Với nhà Xuân Tây chúng tôi mong muốn một ngôi nhà bình dị, hòa mình và mở ra với thiên nhiên, đề cao bầu khí kiến trúc , tối giản vật liệu và các hình thức trang trí nội thất.
Nha Xuan Tay is situated on a gentle hill in Xuan Tay commune, with expansive views toward Gia Lao Mountain, approximately 8 kilometers away in a straight line.
The house belongs to a young family born and raised in the area. Their desire was to build a weekend home where family and friends could gather, and where their children could experience their hometown roots —now made more accessible thanks to improved transportation links between Ho Chi Minh City and Xuan Tay (Dong Nai).
From the outset, we and the clients agreed on a single material palette: Dong Nai bricks and tiles. This unified materiality and color tone allowed us the freedom to focus on spatial composition and layout.
A long wall running the length of the site was introduced to organize both private and shared areas. The folded roof, oriented longitudinally, creates deep eaves and varied interior heights. These pitched tile folds bring in shifting natural light throughout the day, especially along the east-west axis. This layout stretches the home across the site, connecting every space directly to the surrounding garden or the long shaded veranda.
The veranda plays a vital role in Nha Xuan Tay. It appears in multiple layers, each adapting to a different function:
. The first connects to the entrance hall.
. The second blurs the boundary between the indoor living-dining area and the outdoors.
. The third offers a private transition from the master bedroom to the rear garden.
A small internal courtyard is placed at the heart of the house —a playground for children (they can climb out directly from their bedroom window), while also acting as a passive cooling device that channels breezes from back to front.
