Flexible Living Space: The apartment is designed to easily switch between different layouts, such as 3 bedrooms or 2 home offices, depending on the family’s changing needs.

This project transforms a compact 90m² apartment into a highly adaptable living space for a young family, sometimes accommodating up to three generations. Flexible design elements like foldable furniture, movable partitions, and multi-use areas allow the space to shift easily between work, rest, and gathering. It balances practicality and comfort, creating a home that evolves with its residents' daily routines and long-term needs.
. Smart Use of Space: With limited area (90m²), the design uses multi-functional furniture, sliding curtains, and a loft to maximize storage, create zones, and keep the space open and tidy.
. Everyday Comfort & Connection: The home supports both work and family life. It allows privacy when needed, but also encourages togetherness—making it suitable for both daily routines and gatherings.
Căn hộ SSR được thiết kế dành cho một gia đình trẻ với nhu cầu sinh hoạt và làm việc tại nhà ở tần suất cao. Trong một số thời điểm, không gian này còn là nơi sum vầy của ba thế hệ. Chính vì vậy, yêu cầu quan trọng nhất mà gia chủ đặt ra cho nhóm thiết kế là tạo ra một không gian linh hoạt và dễ biến đổi, có thể chuyển đổi giữa ba phòng ngủ, hai phòng làm việc riêng, hoặc kết hợp các chức năng khác nhau trong diện tích chỉ vỏn vẹn 90m².
Trước giới hạn diện tích cố hữu của một căn hộ chung cư, nhóm thiết kế đã lựa chọn những thủ pháp chia tách và mở rộng mềm: sử dụng rèm cuốn, các vách xếp linh hoạt, đồ nội thất đa năng như giường gấp, bàn ăn có thể kéo dài. Tất cả nhằm tạo nên một không gian sống có thể “đổi vai” tùy theo nhu cầu mà không phá vỡ cấu trúc tổng thể.
Phần trần được giữ nguyên trạng bê tông, không đóng phẳng, không chỉ nhằm tận dụng tối đa chiều cao, mà còn để tạo nên một cảm giác mộc mạc, một bầu không khí thô mộc thân thuộc, khi kết hợp cùng vật liệu sàn có cùng sắc độ và chất liệu.
Với quan niệm rằng một không gian muốn luôn gọn gàng thì kho – tủ – kệ phải “nén” tối đa, nhưng đủ đầy và dễ dùng, toàn bộ hệ tủ trong căn hộ được thiết kế tối ưu hóa dung tích, phân bố hợp lý theo nhu cầu sử dụng thực tế, từ không gian sinh hoạt đến làm việc và nghỉ ngơi.
Căn hộ chung cư tuy không có sân hay hiên như nhà đất, nhưng nhóm thiết kế vẫn dành một “hiên nhà” nhỏ ngay lối vào, một khoảng sảnh đệm 3m² với đầy đủ chức năng: chỗ treo đồ, tủ giày, kho phía trên, băng ngồi để xỏ giày hay tiễn khách, như một cử chỉ chào đón tinh tế trước khi bước vào không gian sống chính.
Sau ba tháng theo dõi quá trình gia chủ sử dụng căn hộ, chúng tôi nhận thấy không gian này không chỉ là nơi để “ở” – mà là một ngôi nhà đa nhiệm: nơi làm việc, nơi sum vầy, nơi tiếp đãi người thân, một không gian sống đúng nghĩa, vừa riêng tư vừa kết nối, vừa vững chãi vừa uyển chuyển.
The SSR apartment was designed for a young family who spends a lot of time living and working at home. Sometimes, the space also needs to fit three generations at once. That’s why the most important goal was to create a home that can easily change depending on their needs, whether it’s three bedrooms, two separate workspaces, or a mix of both, all these within just 90 square meters.
Since apartment space is limited, the design team used simple but smart solutions to divide or open up the space. These include roller blinds, folding partitions, and furniture that can change shape, like beds that fold away and a dining table that can be extended. This helps the home switch functions easily without needing big changes.
The ceiling was kept as raw concrete instead of covering it up. This kept the ceiling higher and, when matched with the flooring material, gave the apartment a natural, warm, and slightly rustic feel.
The team also knew that for a home to feel tidy, storage must be well planned. So, they designed plenty of built-in storage: closets, shelves, and cabinets placed in useful spots throughout the home to make daily life easier.
Even though an apartment doesn’t have a yard or porch like a house, this one has a small 3m² entry area that acts like a “mini porch.” It includes space to hang coats, store shoes, sit down to put them on, and even a small storage area above. It’s a welcoming spot that sets the tone before stepping into the main home.
After watching how the family used the space for three months, we believe the SSR apartment has become more than just a place to live. It’s a home that can do many things—supporting work, family time, and hosting guests. It’s private but open, strong but flexible—a space that truly fits modern life.
